Smoking Quit
Tips
Make a date, mark the calendar, and then begin your new life
as a non-smoker. Here are a few smoking quit
tips we hope will help you. Before starting, visit
your doctor.
Get a complete check up. When you do quit smoking
successfully you can compare your health today to what it will
be after you have quit. This should be additional motivation to
never smoke again.
After visiting your doctor also make a dental appointment
for a teeth cleaning. Check out how great your teeth look and
make a vow to maintain that clean look and feel. This alone was
a great motivational tool for me.
The most important smoking quit tip we can offer is to take
the challenge to never take another drag on a cigarette again.
We realize this is an extremely hard promise to live up to.
Chemical dependency on smoking is one of the most intense, most
addicting and the hardest to escape. But take it minute by
minute, one day at a time.
You may experience many different emotions during your
“withdrawal” period. You may discover that you now have a
shorter temper or possibly suffer with depression. These are
very normal occurrences and not anything to be alarmed
about.
Find someone that you can confide in. A friend who has had
success with getting over his or her nicotine addiction can be
very supportive. Don’t be afraid to depend on a loved one for
support, one who has a desire for a closer relationship with
you and wants you to live longer.
After getting the okay from your doctor, start a diet and
exercise program. It is almost impossible to smoke while
jogging, swimming or bicycling. Start slow and add plenty of
water and juices to your diet. You will find exercise relieves
stress and you will have more energy. Weight gain has been a
common complaint, but if you add exercise and a good diet this
shouldn’t be a major concern.
Another great smoking quit tip is to list all the positive
motives for you to quit smoking. You have probably already
experienced many of the negatives. Write down all the rewards
such as simply being healthier, feeling better, smelling
better, being able to play actively with your kids, etc. Post
the list somewhere that is visible every morning.
You will have to decide whether you want to cut back slowly
or quit cold turkey. We have found that there has been a larger
success rate with those who have quit cold turkey. The main
idea is to choose the method that works best for you and stick
to the plan and quit smoking now.
By simply browsing the internet you will discover several
resources to help you successfully quit your smoking habit. You
will also uncover some of the myths tobacco companies want you
to believe. You may already know many of the destructive
qualities of cigarettes but are in denial. Talk to friends or
relatives who have quit smoking and get some smoking quit tips
from them as well.
Finally, JUST DO IT, QUIT SMOKING NOW!
